Evangeline Gertrude Dubbeldee was born June 5, 1928, to Herman and Ann (Dressen) Dubbeldee at home in Lake Stay Township, Arco, Minnesota. Vangie was baptized, received first communion, and was confirmed at St. Dionysius Catholic Church in Tyler, Minnesota. She attended school through the eighth grade and helped on the family farm with her 5 sisters. She went on to work at Bulowski Drug in Marshall.

Vangie was united in marriage to Arnold Wyffels on November 26, 1946, at St. Dionysius Catholic Church in Tyler. She was a loving homemaker while raising 10 children. The couple started out farming South of Marshall, moved South of Tracy, and then to “The Ranch” in Pillager. Vangie returned to Marshall in 1979 where she earned a GED and Nursing Assistant degree. She retired from her time as Nursing Home Activities Coordinator at Weiner Memorial in Marshall 19 years later, in 1998. She went on to study more at the Senior College at SMSU.

Vangie was a charter member of the Minnesota Cowbelle Association, charter member of the Weiner Memorial Auxiliary, past member of the American Legion Auxiliary, member of the Secular Franciscans and Catholic Daughters of America, and member of Statewide Activities Professionals. She was proud to be a part of the RCIA program and served as Eucharistic Minister at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, where she was a faithful member.

The majority of Vangie’s life was selflessly caring for her family. She always looked out for others and used her superior cooking and baking skills to feed her large family, a group from the Cattle Men’s Association, or trail ride. Family was everything to Vangie. She treasured all the letters and photos she received. She loved to document her story. Always up for an adventure, she took her family on spontaneous trips to visit extended family. Vangie loved playing cards, especially with her grandkids. She also enjoyed traveling and exploring new things with friends and hearing a good joke.

Evangeline Wyffels entered Minneota Manor in March of 2013 and then transferred to Morningside Heights in March of 2014. She died there October 17, 2016 at the age of 88 years, 4 months, and 12 days. Blessed be her memory.
