Abbie Isabella Hass, age 94, of Marshall, passed away Monday, December 22, 2014, at Morningside Heights Care Center in Marshall. Funeral services are Saturday, December 27, 2014, 11:00 AM, at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Island Lake Township, Minnesota, with interment following in the Russell City Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday, December 26, from 5:00 – 8:00 PM at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Marshall with a prayer service scheduled for 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Saturday, one hour prior to the service, from 10:00 – 11:00 AM at the church.

Abbie Isabella Orren was born January 8, 1920, in Foley, Minnesota. She was the daughter of James and Emma (Posschl) Orren. Abbie was baptized on October 22, 1936, and later confirmed on November 22, 1936, both at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Foley. She attended Foley schools and then, in 1938, she moved to Lyon County to care for her family.

On March 31, 1940, Abbie was united in marriage to Ralph Hass at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Island Lake Township. The couple made their home in Lyon County. In addition to being a loving homemaker and farm wife, Abbie was mother to two daughters: Virginia and Joyce. The couple retired from farming in January of 1980. They shared nearly 68 years of marriage before Ralph died on March 4, 2008.

Abbie was a long-time member of Zion Ev. Lutheran Church where she was a member of the ladies aid. She loved to cook and bake and enjoyed her fancy work. She was an avid gardener and played bingo every chance she had.

Abbie Hass died on Monday, December 22, 2014, in Marshall, Minnesota at the age of 94 years, 11 months and 14 days.

Abbie is survived by her daughters, Virginia (Donald) Rieck of Phoenix, AZ, Joyce Vogt of Marshall, MN; 3 grandchildren, Renee Boese of Pipestone, MN, Ryan (Mary) Rieck of Phoenix, AZ, Curtis Vogt of Tyler, MN; 3 great-grandchildren, Meagan Rieck, Samantha Rieck, Catherine Vogt; siblings, Lucy Rhode of Canby, MN, Ralph (Judy) Orren of Marshall, MN; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Abbie is preceded in death by her parents, James and Emma Orren; husband, Ralph Hass; sisters, Clarissa Burma, Francis Wesenberg; brothers, Howard Orren, Harold Orren; son-in-law, Dean Vogt; grandsons, Dennis Rieck, David Vogt, and Lonny Boese.

The family invites everyone to the church basement for a luncheon following the interment.
