Alice Moseng

Marshall: Alice E. Moseng, age 85, of Marshall, passed away at the Minneota Manor on Sunday, July 1, 2007. Services celebrating her life will be held at 10:30 A.M. Friday, July 6, 2007 at First Lutheran Church. Burial will be in the Marshall Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. with a 7:00 P.M. prayer service Thursday at the Hamilton Funeral Home. Visitation will continue at the church on Friday, one hour prior to the service.
Alice Eunice Moseng was born to John P. and Martina C. (Kass) Bjerkestrand on March 7, 1922 in Minneota, Minnesota. She was baptized and confirmed at Hope Lutheran church in Minneota.
On December 8, 1940, Alice was united in marriage to Helmer Moseng at Hope Lutheran Church. Alice worked as a cook at the Westside Elementary School in Marshall for 14 years. She also was a member and past president of American Legion Post 113 Auxiliary, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 742 Auxiliary, Marshall Area Adult Center, volunteered at the Hospital Thrift Shop, delivered Meals on Wheels, and was a volunteer for Senior Dining. One of her proud accomplishments at age 69 was being a member and receiving her GED with the first graduating class at the Senior Center in 1991. Other enjoyments were camping, fishing and traveling with her husband Helmer, spending time with children grandchildren and great-grandchildren, playing cards games and Bingo with family and friends, listening to Twins baseball games, and the many special visits with nieces and nephews.
Survivors include her four children and their spouses; Douglas and Lynn Moseng of Minneapolis, Lyle and Carol Moseng of Marshall, Carol and Curlin Swanson of Eagle Lake, and Curtis and Carol Moseng of Paradise PA; nine grandchildren; Brent Moseng, Elise Moseng, DeAnn Watterson, Shawn Moseng, Lisa Sherman, Jodi Gannott, Charles Swanson, S. Eunice Huettl and Gregg Gardner; eleven great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Marcella Rokeh of Ivanhoe; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Helmer in 1989; grandson, Curlin Jr.; six sisters; Alma Van Dorpe, Hilda Wilson, Mabel Bjerkestrand, Sophie White, Beatrice Johnson and Amanda Amundson.
Alice was a faithful member of First Lutheran Church where she was active on the Altar Guild, Ladies Circle and the Quilters.
