Marshall: Audrey G. Miller, age 82, of Marshall, passed away unexpectedly at the Avera Morningside Heights Care Center on Tuesday, January 18, 2011. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Friday, January 21, 2011 at the Albright United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Marshall Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
Audrey Gertrude was born to Lewis Josiah and Hattie Marie (Fixen) Wewetzer on January 3, 1929 in Valley View Township, Lyon County. On August 31, 1930, she was baptized at United Church Fellowship in Yankton, South Dakota. Audrey attended and graduated from Lynd High School.
On June 15, 1948, Audrey was united in marriage to Harlan Miller at the Federated Church in Marshall. After the couple’s marriage, they lived in Clara City for a few months and then moved to Marshall. Audrey was a grocery clerk at Super Valu and various other grocery stores; a foster parent to over 80 children; daycare provider and a bakery clerk at Buy Rite.
Audrey passed away unexpectedly at the Avera Morningside Heights Care Center on Tuesday, January 18, 2011. She had reached the age of 82 years and 15 days.
She is survived by her husband, Harlan, of Marshall; son, Donald (and Patti Dunn), of Boyd; daughter, Debra (and Doug) Lutterman, of Sloan, IA; three grandchildren, Shawn (and Tondee), Tina (and fiancé, Adam Barcus) and Ashley Lutterman; foster son, Mike Nelson, of Redwood Falls; two sisters, Lois Miller, of Marshall and Peggy (and Glen) Wilson, of Willmar; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Lewis; and infant sister, Lillian Jeanette.
Audrey’s enjoyments in life included playing cards with family members (especially with the grandchildren), and fishing and camping with friends and family.
Audrey was a member of Albright United Methodist Church at the time of her death.
