Carol Monsrud, age 75, of Marshall, Minnesota, died on Wednesday, May 8, 2019, at the Avera Marshall Regional Medical Center, Marshall, Minnesota. Memorial Services are 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 13, 2019, at St. Clotilde Catholic Church in Green Valley, Minnesota. Following a reception, entombment will be in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery Columbarium.
Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Sunday, May 12, 2019, Hamilton Funeral Home. The Rosary will be read at 4:00 p.m. and a prayer service is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue Monday, May 13, from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m., at the church.
Carol Jean Monsrud was born on January 5, 1944, to Oscar and Doreen (Devereaux) Van Overbeke in Marshall, Minnesota. She grew up in Marshall and was baptized and confirmed at St. Clotilde Catholic Church in Green Valley. She graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1962.
On August 4, 1966, Carol was united in marriage to Gerald Monsrud and the couple made their home in Marshall. The couple were blessed with two sons and a daughter. Over the years they fostered nine children. Carol also did daycare for twenty plus years. She loved to bake and enjoyed ceramics. Christmas was a special time for Carol. Over the years she had many pets and enjoyed helping Jerry with yardwork. She also enjoyed traveling, reading and car rides. Her family was very special to her and she enjoyed time spent with them.
Carol is survived by her husband Gerald of Marshall, three children: Jim (Lori) Monsrud of Sioux Falls, Jeff Monsrud of Marshall, and Teresa (Curt) Buysse of Minneota; three grandchildren: Jade (Mike) Maxwell, Jordan Buysse and Jasmine Buysse; three great grandchildren: Aydin, Paislee and Ella; three sisters: Shirley Paradis, Elaine (Paul) Swift and Tammy Van Overbeke all of Marshall; and extended family and friends.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Oscar and Doreen.
