Carolyn Elizabeth Stegner

Carolyn Stegner, age 75, of Madelia and formerly of Southwest Minnesota and Eastern Iowa, died on Wednesday, August 1, 2018, at Luther Memorial Home in Madelia, Minnesota. Memorial services are 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 6, 2018, at Hamilton Funeral Home in Marshall, Minnesota. Following a reception, interment will be in the Hendricks Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m., on Monday at Hamilton Funeral Home in Marshall.

Carolyn Elizabeth Hoff was born on January 31, 1943, in Parkston, South Dakota. She was the daughter of Raymond and Hulda (Fechner) Hoff. Carolyn grew up in Meckling and Vermillion, South Dakota. She graduated with the Vermillion High School class of 1961. She continued her education and became the first woman in South Dakota to graduate with Inhalation Technology Certification which she put into practice at Sioux Valley and McKennan Hospitals in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

On March 30, 1968, Carolyn was united in marriage to Wayne Stegner at First Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The couple shared over 50 years of marriage and raised twin daughters. Carolyn was a loving mother and homemaker and held a variety of other jobs including bookkeeping for Wayne’s implement business. The family moved from Wilton, Iowa, to Hendricks, Minnesota, in 2000.

Carolyn’s hobbies included crafts, refinishing furniture, crocheting, collecting various treasures, reading magazines, bird watching, and following the Minnesota Twins. She loved all things angels and butterflies.

She was called home on August 1, 2018, in Madelia, Minnesota. She reached the age of 75 years, 6 months, and 1 day. Blessed be her memory.

Carolyn is survived by her husband, Wayne Stegner; two daughters, Brenda (and Doug) Shelton of Clive, IA, Bonnie (and Mike) Bronson of West Des Moines, IA; three grandsons, Brett and Colby Shelton, Alex Bronson; sister, Roberta Styles of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother-in-law, Carl Styles.
