Arrangements are with the Hamilton Funeral Home in Marshall.
Clair “Pete” James Henderson, the son of Clarence and Margarute (Wilhelm) Henderson, was born on February 10, 1940 in Faulkton, SD. He was given the nickname “Pete” by his dad and two brothers, but to his mom he was always Clair! In Chicago, he was “Pete” and that is how he will always be in our family and to you dear friends in Marshall.
Pete was baptized, received first communion, and was baptized at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Faulkton, SD. After graduating from Faulkton High School he attended SDSU for a year and then went to the Brown Institute in Minneapolis for 2 years. He was dedicated to his job at IBM for 33 years and retired in 1997 only to go back to work part time for them the next day; you can’t keep a good man down.
In 1972, Pete met Mary Bugee in Chicago and they were married two years later, on March 30, 1974. He was a devoted husband, and dearly loved by my children and our grandchildren. His brothers, Ray and Bill’s children, have always been in touch with Pete, and have helped us in this terrible time he has had with cancer. Pete was blessed with so much love, and he was so grateful. Pete was a faithful member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Marshall and a proud member of the American Legion.
Pete’s interests were fishing, hunting pheasants, cooking, giving love to Sandy and Spooky (our little dogs), putsin’ in the garage, and woodworking. His hands were never idle.
Pete passed away on March 3, 2008 at his residence. He had reached the age of 68 years and 22 days.
He was survived by his wife, Mary; his step-sons, David P. (and Corinne), Timothy J. (and Diane), and Richard K. Merary; step-daughter, Margaret (and George) Collette; four grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; dear friends, Jan Henderson and Monica Hoof.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Margaruete and brothers, Raymond and William.
Please designate memorials to the Hope Lodge in Rochester, Minnesota.
