Cleone Marie Rans

Cleone Marie Rans, age 87, of Marshall, passed away at the Prairie Home Hospice House in Marshall on Saturday, September 22, 2007. Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, September 25, 2007 at the Wesley United Methodist Church in Marshall. Burial will be in the Morgan City Cemetery. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service, from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. The Hamilton Funeral Home in Marshall is in charge of the arrangements.
Cleone Marie Bucholz was born to Herman and Alice (Smith) Bucholz on February 28, 1920 in Birch Coulee Township, near Morton, Minnesota. She was baptized and confirmed in the Methodist faith. She attended and graduated from Morton High School. Cleone was united in marriage to Douglas Rans on October 7, 1941 in Morton, Minnesota. She worked with Doug at the Rans Produce in Morgan, Minnesota for many years before they moved to Marshall in 1965. Cleone was a homemaker until Doug passed away in 1976. Cleone spent a lot of her time volunteering at the Hospital Auxiliary Thrift Shop, where she had been nearly since it began. She also volunteered at the Hospital. Cleone was an active member of Wesley United Methodist Church. She was part of the Service Committee and a member of the wedding and funeral committees. She was also active in the church bazaar for several years.
Cleone passed away at the Hospice House in Marshall on Saturday, September 22, 2007 after a courageous battle with cancer. She had reached the age of 87 years, 6 months and 25 days.
She is survived by her daughters, Carol (and Thomas) Solberg of St. Peter, MN, and Pam Galstad of Redwood Falls; four grandchildren, Stacy (and John) Markert, Marc (and Mary Kay) Solberg, Aaron (and Carol) Galstad, and Jill (and Chad Sullivan) Galstad; five great-grandchildren, Amanda, Katie, Alynn, Fletcher, and Noah; sisters, Shirley (and Ray) McVey of Mora, MN, and Lamoine McMath of San Diego, CA.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Douglas; infant grandson; brother, Sam; and sister, Dorothy.
Cleone's enjoyments in life included needlepoint, crocheting, reading, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Prairie Home HospiceHouse in Marshall.
