Curt Arthur Wagner was born on September 19, 1938, in Monroe, Wisconsin, to parents Arthur and Elsie (Beckman) Wagner. He had a happy childhood growing up in Monroe where he pursued his interests in science and music. He began violin lessons and by the age of 10 knew he wanted to be a theoretical physicist. After graduating from the University of Wisconsin, he studied at the University of Illinois. Before receiving his PhD in 1968, Curt spent a summer at the lab in Los Alamos where he was introduced to mountain climbing. That led to Curt’s meeting Gretchen on top of Mt. Elbert in Colorado. Later they made several first ascents of peaks in British Columbia. They were married in 1967 and had three children: Kara, Christina, and Benjamin.

After teaching physics for two years at Central Washington State College in Ellensburg, Washington, Curt taught at Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall, Minnesota, for 29 years. He enjoyed teaching and doing research with his students and introducing them to back packing and mountain climbing. Curt played violin in the Southwest Minnesota Orchestra for over 45 years.

Upon Retirement, Curt pursued his passion to know what the Bible really says by translating passages from the Hebrew and Greek. Calling himself a “Berean Nazorean exiled Israelite of the Eternal Covenant,” he shared what he learned with others. Shortly before he died, he completed his translation of the book of Revelation.

Curt Wagner died peacefully on Tuesday, November 8, 2022, at his home in Marshall, Minnesota. He had reached the age of 84 years, 1 month, and 20 days. Blessed be his memory.
