Della Kramer

October 18, 1919 — March 15, 2014

Marshall: Della Kramer, age 94, of Marshall, passed away at Aver Morningside Heights Care Center on Saturday, March 15, 2014. Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m. Friday, March 21st at Christ United Presbyterian Church. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the Marshall Cemetery. Della Broesder Kramer was born October 18, 1919 in Rock Rapids, Iowa, to parents Mike and Emma (Vos) Broesder. Della attended elementary schools in Lyon County, IA, and Rock County, MN, graduating from 8th grade at the age of eleven. Della spent her earlier years housekeeping and providing home health care. On December 22, 1936, she and Walter Kramer were united in marriage at First Presbyterian Church in Rushmore, MN. In January 1937, Walt and Della moved to their farm in Stanley Township. This farm was to be Della’s home for the next 70 plus years. In November 2008, Della moved to Boulder Estates and April 2013 moved to Avera Care Center. Della and her family became active members of the Federated Church in 1946. Della was a long standing member of the Elizabeth Circle. One of her greatest pleasures was preparing carloads of jams, jellies, bake goods , and produce from her huge garden for the annual Fall Bazaar. She and her friend, Stella Curry, were also known as the “Coffee Ladies”, preparing and serving coffee for many after church services and special events. Della had a lifetime working partnership with Walter in their farming and purebred swine operations. Their extent of travel included numerous interstate drives delivering and showing their prize livestock. A great pleasure for Della was serving as an adult 4-H leader for Stanley Busy Beavers for many years and supporting her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren in their varied 4-H endeavors. She also enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, playing games with family members, listening to Lawrence Welk, and watching the Twins. Grateful for having shared her life are daughter, Beverley Evans of Balaton and son, Calvin (Rhonda) Kramer of Marshall; grandchildren, Kim (Mike) Clayton of Alexandria, Corey (Jennifer) Evans of Balaton, Todd Kramer of Fulda, Dr. Tory Kramer of Knoxville, TN and Tracey Michelli of Baton Rouge, LA: Genell Hollahan of Jordan, MN; seven great grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Fran Kramer; sister-in-law, Gwen Kramer; also many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Della was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Walter (2001), son, Donald (2001); three sisters, Minnie Brommer, Jenny Molaar and Marie Nelson; three brothers, Mike, John and Joe; son-in-law, Dale Evans; and an infant granddaughter.
