Dolores Lorraine Larson was born on October 12, 1915, to Oscar P. and Anna (Burthus) Larson in Canby, Minnesota. Dolores was raised in the Canby area and graduated from Canby High School with the class of 1935. Dolores and Howard Schulz were united in marriage on May 17, 1936. They made their home in Marshall and had three children, Lynne McLaughlin, Merilee Leonard and Bill Schulz. Dolores and Howard enjoyed 41 wonderful years of marriage before Howard passed away in 1977.

Dolores was united in marriage to Mr. Roland Rans from 1979 until Roland passed away in 1992. She welcomed Roland’s daughter, Karen, to her family.

Dolores was a loving individual who often took time to know the people that surrounded her. If Dolores knew you, she would always remember you. Dolores traveled extensively with family and friends, seeing much of the world and experiencing many cultures. The Tribute to Dolores (Below) for her 100th Birthday may help you visualize and remember this very special lady who lived each day to the fullest in Canby, Marshall, Spicer, Minnesota and Sanibel Island, Florida.
Our Mom’s 100 – but
Our Mom is 100 years old – but she can fool you into thinking that she is not.
Our Mom’s 100 – but she emails and looks at pictures of her grandchildren on Facebook.
Our Mom’s 100 – but she lives in a real house with a huge yard.
Our Mom’s 100 – but she still drives the car she purchased a couple years ago – and takes it for an oil change and fills it with gas.
Our Mom’s 100 – but she doesn’t want to miss her circle meetings and the gathering of her study club ladies.
Our Mom’s 100 – but she still has about 100 pots of plants and flower in her front and back yard – and cares for and waters every one. They are some of the most beautiful flowers in town.
Our Mom’s 100 – but she still travels to Sanibel Island, Florida for part of the winter and spends part of the summertime at Green Lake.
Our Mom’s 100 – but she still likes to keep up with the Twins and cheer for the Vikings.
Our Mom’s 100 – but she is usually up on the local news, road work and weather report.
Our Mom’s 100 – but she still tells us how to get places.
Our Mom’s 100 – but she is still an interested and discerning shopper.
Our Mom’s 100 – but if you asked her to accompany you on a trip to Rome, she’d jump at the chance.
Our Mom’s 100 – she likes a short nap each day – but then she’s ready to go.
Our Mom’s 100 – she loves cleaning drawers and closets – whenever we talk to her, she is doing it.
Our Mom’s 100 – she likes to decide – and she does.
Our Mom’s 100 – but she still shops, check labels and counts calories.
Our Mom’s 100 – and she hurts sometimes and has some bad bumps and bruises – but she doesn’t complain.
Our Mom’s 100 – and sometimes she likes to think about what she will do when she gets old – but not often. (She’s usually too busy).
Our Mom’s 100 – and is a special gift from God. We are grateful that He has let us have her for so many years – so that she could teach us all how to get to be 100 too.
