Edna Mae Skuya Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Edna Skuya, age 91, of Marshall, Minnesota, died on Saturday, May 28, 2022, at the Avera Morningside Heights Care Center in Marshall. Funeral Services are 10:30 a.m., Friday, June 3, 2022, at Cornerstone United Methodist Church in Marshall. A luncheon reception for attendees will follow at the church. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service, from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m., on Friday at the church. Interment will be later that afternoon at 4:00 p.m., Friday in the Marshall Cemetery. Edna Mae Wiltermood was born September 22, 1930, in Newport, Indiana. She was the daughter of Joseph and Zenna (Nosker) Wiltermood. Edna was baptized, confirmed, and received first communion in Washington, Illinois. She attended school there as well graduating with the high school class of 1948. She then found work as a waitress. On April 4, 1953, Edna was married to Anton “Tony” Skuya in Springfield, Illinois. The couple made their home in Creve Coeur, Illinois. She and Anton raised three children as they moved from Pekin, Illinois, to Baltimore, Maryland, to Huron, South Dakota, and then the Marshall, Minnesota, area. And there was a loving homemaker and also did some daycare on the side for several years prior to her retirement in 1980. The couple shared over 65 years of marriage together until Anton’s death in 2018. Edna spent much of her free time as an amateur photographer and tried to travel as much as she could. Some of her favorite trips were spent going to family reunions. Edna also enjoyed growing up around horses, as her father trained them, and competing in a good game of Rook. She was involved with TOPS and the Methodist Church. Edna Skuya died on Saturday, May 28, 2022, at the age of 91 years, 8 months, and 5 days. Blessed be her memory. She is survived by her 3 sons, Craig Skuya of Sioux Falls, SD, Steve (and Sue) Skuya of Marshall, Paul (and Bonnie) Skuya of Marshall; 6 grandchildren, Jeremy Skuya of Marshall, Jamie Stuckey of Marshall, Joseph (Haley) Skuya of Baltic, SD, Matt (Brittany) Skuya of Marshall, Christin (and Eric) Espinosa of Sioux Falls, SD, Ashley (Brad) Rypkema of Rock Rapids, IA; 12 great-grandchildren, Taylor, Mason, Bentley, Tannyr, Skya, Kyrie, Aubrey, Mattea, Louis, Levi, Haven, Maryn; brother, Richard (and Kazuyo) Wiltermood of Lake Tahoe, NV; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Edna is preceded in death by her husband, Tony Skuya; parents, Joseph and Zenna Wiltermood; daughter-in-law, Vicki Skuya; brothers, Leo and Joe Wiltermood; and sisters, Joann Bostrom and Mary Belyea.
