Edward Rudolph Richters

Edward “Bud” Richters, age 84, of Russell, passed away Sunday, August 2, 2009 at the Lutheran Home Campus in Belle Plaine. Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Saturday, August 8, 2009 at the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Island Lake Township. Burial will be in the Russell City Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. with a 7:30 P.M. prayer service Friday at the Hamilton Funeral Home. Visitation will continue Saturday at the church, one hour prior to the service. Edward (Bud) was born May 31, 1925 in Island Lake Township, MN to Claus and Heratha (Stelter) Richters. Bud was confirmed a Christian and baptized at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church. He served his church throughout his entire life and was a member of the Russell Lions. He married Betty Mae Wilmes on October 6, 1946 at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church. He was a dedicated farmer, husband and father all his life.
Edward (Bud) is survived by his wife, Betty of Russell, MN; daughters, Debora Dvorak of Carver, MN, and Diane Pogatchnik of Breezy Point, MN; Debora’s family, Michael (husband) and grandchildren, Amie, Jackie, Andrea, and Christian all from Carver, MN; and sister-in-law, Marilyn Richters.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Claus & Heratha Richters; three brothers, Martin (and Evelyn) Richters, Harold, and Clifford; two sisters, Alice (and Art) Raine and Edna Wilmes and Todd Wilmes; nephews, Dennis Wilmes and Jerry Pipke; and grandson, Curtis Pogatchnik.
