Ella Clara McChesney, age 96, of Marshall, died Thursday, October 4, 2007 at Morningside Heights Care Center in Marshall. Memorial services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Sunday, October 14, 2007 at the Hamilton Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Marshall Cemetery.
Ella Clara Ford was born March 22, 1911 in Reynold’s Station, Kentucky to Walter W. and Martha Mae (Knott) Ford. She was baptized at the Evangelical Church in Marshall. In 1929, Ella graduated from Marshall High School and then went on to graduate from teacher’s training in Tracy, MN. She taught in country schools throughout Lyon County.
On May 28, 1938, Ella was married to Clifford McChesney at the Evangelical Church in Marshall. The couple remained in Marshall thereafter. Ella was a faithful member of Albright United Methodist Church. Ella passed away at the Morningside Heights Care Center on October 4, 2007, at the age of 96 years, 6 months, and 12 days.
Ella is survived by her children, Mary McChesney of Marshall and Sharon (and Richard) Miller of Hutto, Texas; a grandson, USAF Major Brighten Miller; siblings, Betty Pyle, Roxanna Seymour, and Phyllis Schmidt; sisters-in-law, Ruth McChesney and Pat McChesney; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford; parents; three brothers; and two sisters.
Memorials are preferred to Albright United Methodist Church or Prairie Home Hospice House of Marshall.
