Russell: Eugene “Gene” McChesney, age 73, of rural Russell, passed away suddenly at his residence on Thursday, July 21, 2011. A memorial service will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, July 26, 2011 at the Russell Community Center . Visitation will be 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. with a 7:00 P.M prayer service at Hamilton Funeral Home in Marshall and continue one hour prior to the service at the community center. Eugene “Gene” Vernen was born on July 7, 1938 in Worthington Christian and Lydia (Techau) Jensen. He was adopted at a young age by Kenneth and Anna Mae McChesney. He was baptized and confirmed into the Presbyterian faith in Russell. He served his country in the Army during 1956 to 1959 in Germany . On July 7, 1959, Gene’s 21st birthday, he was united in marriage to Grace Reese at Grace Lutheran Church in Russell. After the couple’s marriage, Gene drove milk truck, loaded flax straw on railroad cars, worked as a plumber for Bisbee Plumbing, Hander Plumbing and many contractors. Gene passed away suddenly at his residence in rural Russell on Thursday, July 21, 2011. He had reached the age of 73 years and 14 days. Gene is survived by his loving wife, Grace, of Russell; four children, Robin McChesney, of Boise, Idaho, Katy Janiszeski, Tony (and Chris) and Traci McChesney, all of Russell; six grandchildren, John Burke, Nikki Saxton, Amy (and David) Rubin, Jared ( and Lacie) McChesney, Kole and Kandi Janiszeski; five great-grandchildren, Aiden, Jayda and Jed McChesney, Caleb and Levi Rubin; siblings John Jensen, Exodie Jensen, Violet (Jensen) Radach, Jerry Jensen, Chris Jensen and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his biological parents, adopted parents, sisters Elsie Jensen, Mary Ann (Jensen) Nelson, Laura (Jensen) Parkos, brother Pete Jensen and grandson, Donny Danes. Gene’s many enjoyments included draft horses, raising various hunting dogs and pheasants, hunting, coon hunting, fishing, boxing, rooster fighting, trapping and having a state game farm. Gene was a member of AAU & Golden Gloves, Russell Round Up Riders, American Legion Post and Redwood River Sportsman Club. Blessed Be The Memory of Gene McChesney. Hamilton Funeral Home 532-2933
