Georgianne Susan Vogel was born on April 13, 1931in St. Cloud, Minnesota. She was the daughter of George and Catherine (Thommes) Vogel. Georgie was baptized, received first communion, and was confirmed at St. Mary’s Cathedral in St. Cloud. She graduated from Cathedral High School in 1949.

On June 10, 1950, Georgie was united in marriage to Wilfred “Bill” Como at St. Mary’s Cathedral. They shared 52 years of marriage together and raised 7 children. The couple made their home in St. Cloud and Marshall where Georgie was blessed to be a mother and homemaker. As the kids grew up she worked at B-H Electronics as a machine winder for 17 years and then spent 4 years as a sales clerk at Ehler’s Department Store. She retired in 1994. After Bill died in 2002, Georgie stayed Marshall until 2009 when she moved to Audobon, Minnesota, to be with her daughter, Debra. When she needed more assistance with her daily care she entered Ecumen Memory Care in Detroit Lakes.

Georgie was a member of the Marshall Radio Club and a one-time avid HAM Radio Operator. She and Bill were part of the emergency radio network in Southwest Minnesota. Georgie’s call sign was WAØEDQ. She loved all music, especially country music and enjoyed attending WE Fest. She was always up for visiting family or spending time with old friends. Family was always a priority, and Georgie cherished time gardening with her honey, Bill. They took many family vacations together and especially enjoyed camping. She also loved her first dog, Sybil, who was a gift from her beloved husband. Her love of dogs extended to her boxer, Cooper, too. Her handwritten notes spelled out that her home, her husband, and her children made her life what it was. She will be dearly missed.

Georgie entered her heavenly home on Thursday, October 29, 2015, in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, at the age of 84 years, 6 months, and 16 days. Blessed be her memory.

Georgie is survived by her children, Dr. Dianne Como (and Kate Blau) of Minneapolis, Luanne Como of Maplewood, Bill (and Diane) Como of Eagle’s Grove, IA, Debra (and Todd) Krieger of Audubon, Joseph (and Eva) Como of Marshall; many grandchildren; many many great-grandchildren; sisters, Tutz (and Jim) Carryl of Jacksonville, FL, Evelyn Frank of Cold Spring; nephews, nieces, other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Catherine Vogel; husband, Bill Como; sons, Bruce Como and James Como; grandson, Jeremy Como; sisters, Joannie Schuh and Marion Robinson; and brother, Tom Vogel.
