Gladys Minnie Desaer

Gladys M. DeSaer, Age 84, of Marshall, passed away at her residence on Saturday, April 19, 2008. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, April 23, 2008 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Clotilde Catholic Cemetery in Green Valley. Visitation will be 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. with a 7:00 P.M. prayer service Tuesday at the Hamilton Funeral Home.
Gladys Minnie Paul was born to Julius and Mathilda (Kueck) Paul on October 10, 1923 in Lyon County, Minnesota. She attended rural school in Lyon County .
On November 6, 1947, Gladys was united in marriage to Walter DeSaer at the Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Marshall. They made their home in rural Marshall and in Marshall. Gladys was employed by Thrifty White Drug, SMSC Food Service and did house cleaning.
Gladys passed away suddenly at her residence on Saturday, April 19, 2008. She had reached the age of 84 years 6 months and 9 days.
She is survived by her husband, Walter of Marshall; three children, Cheryl (Herm) Dybevik of Atwater, Roberta (Dennis) Fox of Jacksonville, FL, and Tim (Sue) DeSaer of Marshall; six grandchildren, Ryan (Sarah) Dybevik, Lori Dybevik, Megan Fox, Kelly Fox, Andrew DeSaer and Sara DeSaer; also many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; five sisters, Hilda, Emma, Ann, Martha and Elsie; and four brothers, George, Carl, Albert and William.
Gladys was an avid flower gardener, bird watcher and took part in various craft type activities, such as sewing, woodworking, furniture refinishing, card making and baking. Gladys more than anything enjoyed her six grandkids and their activities. She especially enjoyed attending the school activities, educational activities and sports activities that the grandkids participated in. Gladys could be seen at many sporting events such as hockey games, track meets, marathons and volleyball games.
Gladys was a faithful member of Holy Redeemer; Catholic Daughters; Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary; Senior Woodworking; and Marshall YMCA.
