Harold "Hal" Edwin Loe

Marshall: Harold “Hal” Loe, age 71, of Marshall, formerly of Cottonwood, passed away at Avera Marshall Regional Medical Center on Thursday, July 5, 2012. Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Monday, July 9th at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Marshall. Visitation will be 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. with a 6:45 P.M. prayer service Sunday at the Hamilton Funeral Home. Visitation will continue at the church on Monday, one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the English Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery in Cottonwood. Hal was born to Edwin and Hazel (Cole) Loe on December 23, 1940 in Cottonwood, MN. He was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith. In 1958, Hal graduated from Cottonwood High School and attended the University of Minnesota School of Agriculture. He served in the National Guard for a number of years.
On December 1, 1963, Hal was united in marriage to Ellen Weseloh in Cottonwood, MN. To this union, three children were born.
He and Ellen farmed with brother, John, and wife, Kathy, until they retired and moved to Marshall, MN in 2003. Hal enjoyed his grandchildren, traveling (especially winter vacations), and participating in and watching sports. One of Hal's favorite activities was watching his children participate in high school golf tournaments.
He battled Parkinson's disease the last several years of his life and appreciated the local Parkinson's support group. Hal was hospitalized on June 29, 2012, with a brain aneurysm. Surrounded by loving family and friends, he was taken home to heaven on July 5, 2012 at the age of 71. He was a devoted husband, loving father, wonderful brother and special uncle who will be greatly missed.
Hal is survived by his wife, Ellen; daughter Sherri and Kevin Laleman of Savage, MN; daughter Shannon Loe of Atlanta, GA; son Timothy and Ruthie Loe of Cottonwood, MN: five grandchildren, Jenna and Evan Laleman, Maggie, Titus and Penelope Loe. He is also survived by siblings DeAnn Hanson of Montrose, CO; John (Kathy) Loe of Cottonwood, MN; Sharon Loe of Eau Claire, WI; Susan (Dan) Gronvall of Red Wing, MN; and many nieces and nephews. Hal was preceded in death by his parents, brother David Loe and brother-in-law Jerrold Hanson. Blessed be the memory of Hal Loe Memorials preferred to Prairie Home Hospice and Michael J.
