Hector Henry Vanacker

Russell: Hector VanAcker, age 85, of Ivanhoe, formerly of Russell and Marshall, passed away at his residence in Ivanhoe on Friday, May 13, 2011. Mass of Christian Burial will be 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, May 17th at St, Mary’s Chapel in Marshall. Burial will be in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. with a 7:30 P.M. prayer service Monday at the Hamilton Funeral Home. Visitation will continue at the church on Tuesday, one hour prior to the service. Hector Henry was born on August 13, 1925 to August and Marie (Maertens) VanAcker in Lyon County. He was baptized on August 20, 1926 and confirmed on October 18, 1939 at St. Eloi Catholic Church in Ghent. He farmed with parents. On December 29, 1947, Hector was united in marriage to Emma S. Thooft at St. Dionysius Catholic Church in Tyler. They farmed by Tyler for a few years, then moved and farmed near Russell until retiring and moving to Marshall in 1986. Emma passed away on September 21, 1997. Hector moved to Ivanhoe in May of 2010. Hector passed away at his residence in Ivanhoe on Friday, May 13, 2011. He had reached the age of 85 years and 9 months. He is survived by his two daughters, Linda Halbenlieb of St. Paul and Lennita (Marlan) Buchert of Russell; a sister, Martha Meulebroeck of Tyler; special friend, Vera Sylte of Ivanhoe; also many relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Emma; a sister, Margaret Searl; and five brothers. Walter, Eddie, Rene, Raymond and Searl. Hector’s enjoyments in life were Rolle Bolle, dancing, playing cards (especially 500), helping with farming and visiting with family and friends. Hector was a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church at the time of his death. Bless be the memory of Hector VanAcker. Please designate memorials to your favorite charity
