Jane Eileen Blomme

July 7, 1960 — October 6, 2021

Jane Blomme, age 61, of Marshall, Minnesota, went to her forever home in heaven on Wednesday, October 6, 2021, with her family and a dear friend at her side. A private memorial service will take place Sunday, October 10, 2021, at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Marshall, Minnesota. Interment will be in the St. Clotilde Catholic Cemetery in Green Valley, Minnesota. In lieu of flowers or memorials, the family asks that you honor Janie by paying it forward to a person in need, as Jane was often known to do. This simple act of generosity in her name is the greatest honor you could give Jane and her family.

Jane Eileen Blomme was born on July 7, 1960, in Marshall, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Germaen and Agnes (Cauwels) Blomme. Jane grew up on the family farm outside of Marshall. She was baptized, received first communion, and confirmed at St. Clotilde Catholic Church in Green Valley. She attended school in Marshall, graduating with the high school class of 1978 before going on to Stewart School of Hairstyling in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Following graduation, Jane immediately began her career as a hairstylist, and later opened her own business, Salon 807, which she operated for over 30 years.

Jane always loved being with her uniquely large and wonderful family first and foremost. In 1987, she welcomed her son Derek into her life and he became her everything. Later she was blessed with two beautiful grandchildren, Ariana and Elijah, with whom she cherished spending time. Being a mother and grandmother brought her immense joy and pride. On November 21, 2007, Jane was united in marriage to her best friend, Keith VanOverbeke, and they shared many adventures in their life together.

Jane’s free spirit allowed her to focus on what really mattered in life. Family, friends, and clients were often the recipients of her selflessness and many acts of kindness. She truly had a heart of gold! Her hobbies included gardening, planting flowers and vegetables, and then sharing them with the people she loved. She also loved fishing and playing billiards. In 1983, Jane’s team placed second in the National Billiards Tournament.

Jane’s beautiful smile lit up every room she entered, and she radiated hope no matter what her condition. She found the good in everyone and accepted everyone for who they were, celebrating their victories and supporting them through their pain. Blessed and eternal be the memory of our beautiful Janie.

Jane is survived by her husband, Keith VanOverbeke, son, Derek Blomme, grandchildren, Ariana & Elijah, parents Agnes and Clarence Wiering, siblings, Maureen (and Don) DeVlieger, Robert (and Nancy) Blomme, Larry (and Beth) Blomme, Joyce (and Andy) Hedlin, John (and Kristi) Blomme, David Blomme, Dean Blomme, Rick (and Aimee) Blomme, Sue (and Paul) Serie, Greg Wiering, Glenn (and Fina) Wiering, Shirley (and Lowell) Thooft, Gary Wiering, Sandy (and Scott) Sester, Sheela Warner, Galen (and Su Lin) Wiering, nieces and nephews, and Blanca Duran, Felix Beltram and their children, Ayden & Metzli.
