Joel Rolland Turgeon

Milroy: Joel R. Turgeon, age 57, of rural Milroy, passed away suddenly at his residence on Friday, June 14, 2013.
A celebration of Joel’s life will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday, June 20th at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Visitation will be 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Marshall. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Condolences to the family may be given at www.hamiltonfh.com.
Joel Rolland was born to Kenneth Sr. and Jean Christensen on September 29, 1955 in Redwood Falls, MN. He was baptized, received first communion and confirmed in the Catholic faith. He attended school graduated from Wabasso High School.
On July 13, 1985, Joel was united in marriage to Joyce L. Stuedemann at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. To this union two children were born, Christy Leigh (his "pest") and Dustin Willis. Joel worked as a heavy construction operator for McLaughlin and Schulz of Marshall, North Star Crane of Walnut Grove, Schmidt Construction of Redwood Falls and CEEC of Wabasso. The love of his life was doing things for and with his family, especially his grandson, Josiah Kiptoo Kenneth. His enjoyments included camping, canoeing, hiking, and fishing, especially in the Boundary Waters area. Joel was also deeply involved in the Boy Scouts as an Assistant Scout Master for Troop 320 as well as helping other districts.
Joel is survived by his wife, Joyce of Milroy; two children, Christy (and Timothy) Rotich of Marshall and Dustin of Marshall; grandson, Josiah of Marshall.; mother, Jean of South St. Paul; four siblings, Kenneth (and Sue) of South St. Paul, Tim (and Penny) of Inver Grove Heights, Lynne Kline of South St. Paul, and Paul (and Cheryl) of Lonsdale; sister-in-law, Lorie Thooft; mother-in-law, Shirley Stuedemann; also many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth; sister, Lori Anne; father-in-law, Willis Stuedemann; brother-in-law, Dan Kline; and brother-in-law, Craig Stuedemann.
