Judith Ann Swanson was born on February 26, 1949, in Lakefield, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Lansing and Helen (Griener) Swanson. Judy was baptized at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Lakefield and then received her first communion and was confirmed at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Windom. She attended school in Windom and graduated from Windom High School with the class of 1967. Judy then worked as a clerk at a local grocery store.

On June 28, 1968, Judy was united in marriage to James Haar at the Catholic Church in Windom. The couple lived in Windom until 1974, when they moved to Lynd for 4 years before moving to Marshall in 1978. They were blessed with over 46 years of marriage and raised three children: Jill, Pamela, and Ryan. Judy worked as secretary for Delft D.A.C., at the Finger Hut, and Toro in Windom. In Marshall, she worked for the Swift Turkey Plant and served in several area group homes. She was also a housekeeper for Avera Marshall Hospital and retired in 2009.

Judy was a member of the Lakota Legacy Quilters at the Lake Shetek Bible Camp. Her other enjoyments included camping at Shady Oak Campground, spending time at the lake, pontoon rides, and traveling – she made it to 48 states, visiting Hawaii just this year. She truly loved her family and friends and cherished the time she spent with them.
