Marshall: Kathleen Janzen, age 94, of Marshall, passed away Wednesday, June 13, 2007 in Marshall. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, June 16, 2007 at Christ United Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in the Marshall Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. with a 7:00 P.M. prayer service Friday at the Hamilton Funeral Home. Visitation will continue at the church on Saturday, one hour prior to the service.
Kathleen Marguerite Janzen was born October 10, 1912 in St. Paul, Minnesota to Frederick Leonard and Ottillie Marguerite (Harms) Siebold. She was baptized and confirmed at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in St. Paul, MN. She attended Johnson High School in St. Paul and then went on the University of Minnesota, majoring in Home Economics. Jacob H. Janzen and Kathleen were married May 23, 1936 at in St. Paul and then lived in Spring Valley, MN foreight years before moving to Marshall, MN.
athleen enjoyed playing the organ, knitting, gardening, theater, traveling, and spending time with her family. Kathleen was an active member of Christ United Presbyterian Church in Marshall since 1945. She was also affiliated with the Good Thoughts Study Club since 1947, Order of the Eastern Star since 1935, and she was a past matron of Eastern Star and secretary. Kathleen also was president of Presbyterian Women, member of the session, a choir member, deacon for church, and the church secretary. She also worked for 7 years at the Farm Bureau.
She is survived by her children, Fredric Jay (and Barbara) Janzen of Germantown, WI, and Bradford Lee (and Vicky) of Peoria, IL; five grandchildren, Fredric Jay II Janzen (and Anne Bronikowski) of Ames, IA, Michael Frantz (and Geraldine) Janzen of Fernandina Beach, FL, Jennifer Susan Janzen of Milwaukee, WI, Heidi Lynn Janzen of Peoria, IL, and Adam Karl Janzen of Peoria, IL; and four great-grandchildren, Clara Marie Janzen, Abigail Rose Janzen, Natalia Elise Janzen, and Jacob Frantz Janzen. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jacob H. Janzen, on March 27,1993.
