Marshall: Mrs. Lillian Petersen, age 94, a former resident of Milroy, died on Tuesday, May 17, 2011 at the Prairie View Healthcare Center in Tracy.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 20, 2011 at 1:00 P.M. from the Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Marshall. Burial will take place in the Milroy cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 5 to 7 P.M. at the Hamilton Funeral Home and on Friday one hour prior to the service at the church.
Lillian Laabs, the daughter of Robert and Selma (Jaskulke) Laabs was born on May 22, 1916 in Esterville, Iowa. She attended the Marshall High School. On June 19, 1932 she was united in marriage to Hans Christian Petersen at the Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Marshall. Lillian assisted her husband on the farm in the Milroy area. She also worked at the S& L Store and for the Redwood County Health Department.
Lillian was a past president of the Christ Lutheran Ladies Aid, past president of the Milroy Senior Citizens. She sewed for the veteran’s home. Lillian loved to sing with the M&M’s at various nursing homes. She was a member of the Milroy American Legion Auxillary. Lillian loved family get-togethers.
Lillian is survived by her children, James (Ruth) Petersen of Winthrop, Duane of Tracy, Marjorie (Marvin) Oberg of Milroy and Catherine Petersen of St. Paul; 11 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and 17 great-great grandchildren and other relatives.
She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, 3 sisters, 1 brother, 1 great-granddaughter and 1 great-great granddaughter.
