Lois Arlene Bultman was born on December 17, 1930, in Faribault, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Alfred and Irma (Bosshart) Bultman. Lois was baptized February 11, 1931 and was later confirmed on April 2, 1944, both at St. John’s Church in Wheeling Township. Lois attended county schools and then graduated from Faribault High School with the class of 1948.

On September 14, 1950, Lois was united in marriage to Richard (Dick) Edwin Holten at her home church. The couple lived and farmed near Northfield before buying their own Dairy farm in Dennison in 1954. They farmed there until retirement in 1994. In addition to being a loving homemaker and devoted farm wife, Lois served as Postmaster of the Dennison Post Office for several years. She also catered many weddings, made hundreds of Scandinavian Rosettes and loved to make birthday cakes and donuts for her grandkids. In 2001, the couple moved to Marshall to be closer to family. Lois and Dick were blessed with three girls: Joyce, Janet and Jennifer. They shared over 60 years of marriage together before Dick’s death in December of 2010.

Lois was a faithful member of Dennison Lutheran Church and First Lutheran Church in Marshall and also volunteered her time and talents at Marshall Area Christian School. Lois and Dick spent many winters in Mesa, Arizona, which yielded many memories and friendships. She enjoyed camping with their motorhome during their summers in MN. She was known as “Grandma Lois” to the entire Marshall Tiger Dance Team and loved hosting pasta feeds for her granddaughters and teammates. Lois was always active, mowing lawn, taking care of her yard and her home. Her other enjoyments in life included quilting, coffee with the “F-Street ladies”, and spending time with the family she loved so much.

Lois died on Thursday, September 17, 2015, in Marshall, Minnesota at the age of 84 years and 9 months. Blessed be her memory.
