Lucille Nylen, age 98, of Marshall, passed away Wednesday, September 2, 2009 at the Prairie Home Hospice House in Marshall. Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Saturday, September 12, 2009 at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Marshall. Visitation will be held on Friday evening, September 11, from 4 P.M. to 7 P.M. with a prayer service at 6:00 P.M. at the Hamilton Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Marshall Cemetery. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service on Saturday, at the church.
Lucille Martha Pochardt was born to Emil and Louise (Manke) Pochardt on September 19, 1910 in Minneota, Minnesota. She was baptized and confirmed in the Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Lucille was united in marriage to Oscar Nylen on Novenber 19, 1938 Brookings, SD. They farmed in Fairview Township before moving to Island Lake Township. They farmed there and then moved to Lake Marshall Township. Lucille went on to work for OK Dry Cleaners and Wee Moderns for many years, retiring just a couple of years ago.
Lucille was a faithful member of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, serving as Sunday School teacher and principal. She loved to listen to the church sermons on the radio, crocheting, and gardening – especially her plants. HSe also enjoyed singing in the church choir.
Lucille died on Wednesday, September 2, 2009 at the age of 98 years, 11 months and 14 days.
She is survived by son, Dean (and Donna) Nylen of Willow River, MN; three grandchildren, Lisa Nelson-Danelski, Clint Nylen, and Kristin Nylen-Howell; four great-grandchildren, Drew Nelson, Jennah Nelson, Delaney Danelski and Samantha Nylen; and sister, June Skoog of Marshall; and many other relatives and friends.
Lucille was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Oscar; son, Curt; two grandchildren, Chris and Chad Nylen; three brothers, Louie Pochardt, Walter Pochardt, and Lawrence Pochardt; and four sisters, Minnie Sieglaff, Elfried Dahl, Elsie Johnson, and Viola Johansen.
