Mabel Carrie Albee, age 90, of Tracy, Minnesota, died Friday, December 19, 2014, at the Minneota Manor Care Center in Minneota, Minnesota. Funeral services are Tuesday, December 23, 2014, 11:00 AM, at Wesley United Methodist Church in Marshall, with interment following in the Marshall City Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday, December 22, 2014, from 4:00 – 8:00 PM at Hamilton Funeral Home in Marshall with a prayer service at 7:00 PM.

Mabel “Carrie” Menuey was born February 19, 1924 in Ash Lake Township, Lincoln County, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Leonard and Martha (McCartney) Menuey. She lived with her grandma until age 17, and then she was on her own. Carrie attended country school in Lincoln County.

Carrie worked many jobs including: Spanton Farms, Kerr Hatchery, During WWII she worked at the Puget Sound Naval Yard, Bremerton, Washington. Later she returned to this area and worked for farm families including the Logues, the Rokehs and the Phelps farm, where she met Oliver, a veteran of WWII who had been in the Army Air Corps and stationed at Greenville, South Carolina. Carrie also worked at the Marshall Egg Plant, and the mink farms near town, and later waitressing at Club 59, Ted’s Bar in Ghent, and the Brick Manor. She was a long-time member of the American Legion and VFW Auxiliary groups. Carrie was also a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Marshall since 1948. She taught Sunday school there for 18 years.

On February 17, 1948, Carrie was united in marriage to Oliver Albee and they settled in Sodus Township, Lyon County, where they raised 5 children: Floyd, Linda, James, Susan, John and 2 foster children: Gene and Ronnie. Carrie has lived on the farm there ever since.

Carrie always spoke her mind, and raised her children to value hard work, promptness, and honesty. She was proud of her Indian heritage. Her enjoyments in life included time spent with family, traveling, wintering in Arizona, gardening, bird watching, country gospel music, and watching sports.

Carrie Albee died in Minneota, Minnesota, on February 19, 2014, at the age of 90 years, and 10 months. Blessed be her memory.

Carrie is survived by her children, Floyd “Butch” (Betty) Albee of Rochester, MN, Linda Shaw of Helena, MT, James (Monica) Albee of Marshall, MN, Susan Albee of Wisconsin, John Albee of Tracy, MN; foster children, Gene Wilson (Elsa) of Colorado Springs, CO, Ronnie Wilson of Red Wing, MN; 14 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Carrie is preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Martha Menuey; Husband, Oliver Albee; son, Glen; sisters, Anna Mae Menuey, Alice Serreyn, and Bernice Bliznik.

The family invites everyone to a luncheon in the church basement following the interment.
