Marshall: Marvin H. Rustman, age 79, of Marshall, passed away at the Avera Morningside Heights Care Center on Wednesday, April 28, 2010. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, May 1, 2010 at the Scandia Evangelical Free Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
Marvin Howard Rustman was born to Harvey and Pearl (Hartzell) on May 6, 1930 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He attended Balaton schools through 8th grade and later attended Northwestern Bible College for several months. Rusty married Evelyn (Anderson) and to this union four children were born, namely; Beverly, Lee, Linda and Beth. Rusty was a welder in Marshall for many years. He then drove earthmoving equipment for Thompson Construction/Olson Construction until the mid 60's. Following a move to Bloomington, Minnesota he worked for George T. Ryan Construction. He then went to work for WABCO (Westinghouse Air Brakes Association) where he traveled world-wide training heavy equipment operators and mechanics. He returned to the Marshall area and bought a farm in Shelburne Township where he farmed as well as started his own company called Rusty’s Land Leveling. He married Irene Duque in 1973. After retiring he hobby farmed and enjoyed raising horses and exotic sheep. Rusty was a servant of God and was strong in his faith. The loves of his life were his children, grandchildren and animals. He will be remembered as a man with a kid’s heart and an incessant teaser. Other enjoyments included his horses, waterskiing, trips to Reno and attending auctions. Rusty passed away at the Avera Morningside Heights Care Center on Wednesday, April 28, 2010. He had reached the age of 79 years, 11 months and 22 days. He is survived by his four children, Beverly (Mark) Swanlund of Hastings, Lee (Karen) Rustman of Janesville, Linda (Doug) Appelgren of Kerrick, and Beth (Bill) Johnson of Savage; eight grandchildren, Theresa, Kimberly, Stacey, Stephanie, Matthew, Jennifer, Daniel and Brandon; six great grandchildren; four siblings, Donna (Jim) Lanie of Buffalo, Melvin Rustman of Alexandria, Dennis (Karen) Rustman of Fort Meyers, FL, Robert Rustman of St. Peter, many nieces and nephews as well as his extended family of compassionate caregivers at Morningside Heights. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Harvey Rustman; and a sister, Mildred Skow. Blessed Be The Memory Of Marvin (Rusty) Rustman
