She attended Lynd Public School and graduated from Marshall High School in 2003. She went on to get a degree for Interior Design from the Art Institute of Pittsburg. Melissa was a worker in the food industry most of her career. Her last place of employment was The Valley Tap House in Apple Valley MN. She also was an accomplished artist with her paintings enhancing many homes.
Melissa and her loving partner of five years, Corey Rice, have a beautiful, intelligent four year old daughter, Adalynn.
Melissa was diagnosed on April 10, 2012 with Stage IV Angiosarcoma cancer that has no known medical cure. Despite knowing this Melissa never gave up, turning to eating all natural, healthy foods which in turn extended her life expectancy. She became an advocate of healthy living and persuaded family and friends to lead a healthier life style.
Melissa’s enjoyments in life included going to the Caribou Coffee place just about every day and it became known as “Caribou School” for Adalynn. There they would enjoy their coffee and hot chocolate together while Melissa would be home schooling Adalynn. Melissa also enjoyed going to garage sales with Adalynn where Melissa would pick out numerous children’s books for Addie to read. She lived life to the fullest and enjoyed time spent with her family and friends.
Melissa will always be remembered for her beautiful smile and bubbly personality. Melissa’s dedication to Adalynn will be her lasting legacy.
She is survived by her daughter Adalynn of West St. Paul; parents, Doug and Brenda of Lynd; loving partner, Corey of West St. Paul; two brothers, Travis (Chelsea) of West Brook and Daniel Kleine of Brookings, SD; grandmothers, Lois Winter of Minneota and Arlene Kleine of Marshall; nieces Savannah, Suzannah, Shohannah and nephew, Josiah; many aunts, uncles and cousins; and many faithful and dear friends.
