Melvin Joseph Coudron

Marshall: Melvin J. Coudron, age 81, of Marshall, passed away at the Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls on Tuesday, February 18, 2014. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, February 22nd at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. Visitation will be 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. with a 7:00 Scripture Prayer Service at the Hamilton Funeral Home. Visitation will continue at the church on Saturday, one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Melvin was born on May 31, 1932 in Marshall, Minnesota to Emil and Alma (Boudreau) Coudron. He was baptized, received First Communion and was confirmed at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. On February 19, 1952, Melvin was united in marriage to Aloma Schoenberger at St. Dionysius Catholic Church in Tyler. To this union, seven children were born. They farmed until Melvin entered the U.S. Army on January 20, 1953 and he served until his honorable discharge on December 30, 1954. Melvin then returned home to farm in Stanley Township. Later he also was employed as a truck driver at several businesses including Standard Chemical, 22 years for Schwans, Viessman Trucking, and Sterzinger Crushing Inc. Mel enjoyed fishing, hunting (prairie dogs and wild boars), being outdoors and supervising his tractor polishing. He is a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 742 and Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. Mel is survived by his wife, Aloma of Marshall; his seven children, Nona (Dave) Anderson of Fergus Falls, Barbara (Randy) McFarland of Tooele, UT, Char (LaVern) Johnson of Shakopee, Brenda (Lyle) Koopman of Ivanhoe, Randy Coudron of Marshall, Brian (Tammy) Coudron of Marshall and Jeff Coudron of Elk River; 17 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; and 3 great great grandchildren; three siblings, Alice (Don) Schoenberger of Thermopolis, WY, Donald (Kathy) Coudron and MaryAnn (Don) Kor of Marshall; also many nephews, nieces and other relatives; and special kitty friend, Cuddles. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother; sisters, Evelyn Demuth and Agnes VanOverbeke; and grandson, Dustin Coudron. Blessed be the memory of Melvin J. Coudron
