Mildred "Millie" Rewerts

Mildred “Millie” Eleanora Rewerts, age 96, of Amery, Wisconsin, formerly of Marshall, Minnesota, passed away Wednesday, December 10, 2014, at Willow Ridge Healthcare in Amery. Funeral services are Monday, December 15, 2014, 1:00 PM, at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Marshall, Minnesota. Interment will follow in the Marshall City Cemetery. Visitation from Noon – 1:00 PM, 1 hour prior to the service, at the Hamilton Funeral Home.

Mildred Eleanora Peterson was born on May 26, 1918, in Wergland Township, near Porter, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Ferdinand and Minnie (Rasmussen) Peterson. Millie was baptized July 14, 1918 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Porter, Minnesota. She was later confirmed June 7, 1931 at First English Lutheran Church in Marshall. Millie attended school in Canby, Porter, and Marshall Public Schools.

On June 19, 1940, Mildred was united in marriage to Harvey Gordon Rewerts in Marshall. The couple made their home in Pipestone before World War II. When Harvey was deployed, Millie worked in the steel mill in Gary, Indiana, and then went to live with her parents in Rockford, Illinois. Upon Harvey’s discharge, the couple settled in Marshall where Millie did the books for Rewerts Sanitation for 22 years. She also was a local sales representative for the St. Paul paper, Real Estate agent for Haynes, and cook at the Marshall Public School cafeteria. Millie was a loving mother to three children: Cheryl, Gregory, and Douglas.

Mildred was a faithful member of First Lutheran Church in Marshall, active in the ELCW. She was also a proud member of the Order of the Eastern Star, VFW Auxiliary, and Legion Auxiliary. Her enjoyments in life included painting with oils and acrylics, dancing, sewing and playing cards. She was active in bridge and 500 clubs. She truly loved her family and was committed to her grandchildren.

When Millie needed assistance with her care she moved to Coon Rapids for a few year and then, in April of 2010, she moved to Willow Ridge Healthcare in Amery, Wisconsin. She died there on Wednesday, December 10, 2014, in at the age of 96 years, 6 months and 14 days. Blessed be her memory.

Mildred is survived by her children, Cheryl Kay Miller and her husband, Ken, of Dresser, WI, Gregory Bruce Rewerts and his wife, Jerri, of Alexandria, MN, Douglas Dean Rewerts and his wife, Sue, of Ham Lake, MN; 6 grandchildren, Grant (Tobi) Miller, Andrea Kay Miller (Mike Peterman), Derrick (Stephanie) Rewerts, Alissa (Matt) Tuinstra, Eric (Ann) Rewerts, Scot Rewerts; 9 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mildred is preceded in death by her husband, Harvey Rewerts; parents, Ferdinand and Minnie Peterson; brother, Minfred Peterson; and sister, Joyce Ross.

The family invites everyone to coffee and cake at the funeral home following the interment.
