Mildred was baptized as an infant and confirmed in her youth at the Rock Valley Lutheran Church in rural Echo. She grew up in Rock Valley Township and attended country school through the 8th grade.

On August 17, 1937, Mildred was united in marriage to Riedar Sivertson in Maynard, Minnesota. The couple raised two children: Jerome and JoAnn; and they spent over 70 years of marriage together before Riedar passed away on January 6, 2008. In 1944, the couple moved to Belview and then to Marshall in 1958 where Mildred was a loving homemaker and wife. She also did some work outside the home as a cook at West Side Elementary School and did ironing at Carrow’s Drycleaners in Marshall. In her retirement years, Mildred was proud to earn her GED. She moved to Redwood Falls with her husband in 2005 and, following his passing, she moved to Hutchinson in 2008. She recently moved to Prairie View Assisted Living in Hector to be even closer to her children.

Mildred was a kind and gentle person who always put others first. She was active in the Ladies’ Circle and a member of First Lutheran Church in Marshall. She loved playing cards, quilting (by hand), crocheting, embroidery, flowers, her vegetable garden and canning her delicious jams and jellies. Mildred enjoyed camping and taking trips with her grandchildren.
