Phyllis Marie Sanow

Phyllis Marie Sanow, age 61, of Marshall, Minnesota, passed away Tuesday, June 2, 2015, at her home in Marshall. Funeral services are Friday, June 5, 2015, 10:00 AM, at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Marshall. Interment will immediately follow in the Marshall Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:00 – 10:00 AM, one hour prior to the service, at the funeral home on Friday.

Phyllis Marie Sanow was born on November 30, 1953, in Tracy, Minnesota. She was the daughter of August “Bud” and Martha (Christensen) Sanow. “Philly,” as she like to be called, was baptized in Tracy and later confirmed at the Lutheran Church in Hadley. She attended grade school in Lynd and then Slayton. She grew up living in Amiret and Tracy before moving to Willmar and Spicer.

In her early 20s, Philly moved to Marshall and lived with family members before living in R.E.M. housing. She worked different jobs at various locations with the D.A.C. She would do cleaning and some assembly jobs.

Philly was a feisty, rowdy, and lovable person who had a big heart. She truly enjoyed her life, especially her cigarettes, coffee, pie, and the Perkins Tremendous 12. She enjoyed her work and her family, and the many friends she made at R.E.M.

Phyllis Sanow passed away on Tuesday, June 2, 2015, in Marshall, Minnesota at the age of 61 years, 6 months and 7 days. Blessed be her memory.

Philly is survived by her siblings, Larry (and Linda) Sanow of Hills, MN, Gary (and Charlene) Sanow of Marshall, MN, Richard (and Brenda) Sanow of Lynd, MN, Leann Sanderson of Balaton, MN, Marsha Dilly of Balaton, MN; 16 nieces and nephews, Mark, Paul, James, Heather, Jamie, Aaron, Shane, Nichole, Elizabeth, Mike, Rick, Tim, Rhonda, Shelbi, Brandon, Jesse; 27 great-nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

Philly is preceded in death by her parents, August “Bud” and Martha Sanow; brother, Douglas Sanow; sister, Sharon Schmidt; and nephew, Corey Sanow.
