Rebekah Jane Swanson was born on September 24, 2003 in Marshall, Minnesota to Gregg and Becky (Danell) Swanson. She was reborn as a child of God through baptism on October 12, 2003 at Christ Lutheran Church in Marshall.
Becca’s loving heavenly Father ended her year long battle with leukemia on Saturday, February 15, 2013 when he sent his angels to bring Rebekah to the home in heaven Jesus had prepared for her from all eternity. Here Jesus is filling her with joy in his presence, with eternal pleasures at his right hand (Ps 16:11).
Becca was a 4th grader at Samuel Lutheran School. She loved school and enjoyed participating in as many school activities as she could, including, volleyball, dodgeball and four square. Her favorite subject was math. Outside of school Becca loved to swim, spend time with her friends, and be a big sister to her little baby brother, Ryder or as Rebekah would call him Goochers. Becca is survived by her parents, Becky and Gregg Swanson of Marshall; brothers, Rusty, Riley, and Ryder Swanson, all at home; grandparents Alice Danell of Essexville, MI, James Danell of Columbia Falls, MT and Jane Swanson of Hastings, MN; along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
Becca was preceded in death by her Grandpa Swanson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Samuel Lutheran School, the Make-a-Wish Foundation, the Sanford Children’s Hospital (Sioux Falls)-Child Life, or Children's Miracle Network.
“The one who believes in me will live, even though they die, and whoever lives and believes in me will never die” (Jn 11:25-26). “I have loved thee with an everlasting love, therefore with loving kindness have I drawn thee” (Jr 31:3).
Blessed be the memory of Becca Swanson.
