Richard "Dick" Roy Rosa

Richard “Dick” Rosa, age 76, of Milroy, Minnesota, passed away on Monday, May 8, 2017, at his home in rural Milroy. Memorial services are 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 20, 2017, at Ashford Presbyterian Church in Milroy. Interment will be in the Milroy City Cemetery. A reception for attendees will follow at the Milroy American Legion. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, from 10:00 – 11:00 AM, on Saturday at the church.
Richard Roy Rosa was born January 14, 1941 to Roy and Bertha (Spangler) Rosa in Dovray, Murray County, Minnesota. He was baptized at the Presbyterian Church in Cottonwood, Minnesota. He attended Cottonwood High School where he was the captain of his football team and graduated in 1959.
On November 3, 1962, Richard married Patricia Wirtz in Cottonwood, Minnesota. They farmed in the Cottonwood area until 1969 when they moved to their farm north of Milroy. At different times, they had dairy, raised cattle and hogs, and farmed the land. This is the farm Richard enjoyed working right up until the day before he died. Getting up with the sun and tiring at dusk was fulfilling to him, as farming and hard work were in his blood. During this time, Richard also spent approximately ten years working for the Farmer’s Union Marketing in Redwood Falls, Minnesota.
Richard was a quiet and unassuming man. He enjoyed traveling with family, proudly watching and supporting his children and grandchildren in activities they enjoyed, deer hunting with family, gardening, and being an avid Minnesota sports fan. He loved his family and they knew him well, but because of his quiet nature, others may have only gotten a glimpse.
On Monday, May 8, 2017, Richard Rosa died peacefully in his sleep at his home. He reached at the age of 76 years, 3 months, and 24 days. Blessed be his memory.
Richard is survived by his wife, Patricia Rosa of Marshall; children, Rebecca (Kevin) Wulff of Rochester, Clayton (Cindy) of Milroy, Cheryl (Allen) Pankow of Lonsdale, Cynthia Rosa (and Willie Holmes) of Marion, Ohio, Suzanne (Chris) Rauch of Lynd; daughter-in-law, Vicki Rosa of Marshall; grandchildren: Mitchell (Trisha), Amy, and Jacob Wulff, Jennifer (Nihad) Medar; Jill, Kyle, and Matthew Rosa; Barrett and Spencer Gentz; Julianne and Adam Pankow; Damon Brown, Zoey and Willie Jr. Holmes; Cody and Roysten Rauch; and five great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his son, Brian; daughter, Deborah; parents; brothers, Don and Gary; and sisters, Darlene and Marie.
