Scott Hurd, age 42, of Shakopee, formerly of Marshall, died on Sunday, November 25, 2007 at Avera Marshall Medical Center. Funeral Services willbe 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, November 28, 2007 at Wesley United Methodist Church in Marshall. Burial will be Marshall Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday, November 27, from 4 to 8 P.M. with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. at the Hamilton Funeral Home. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service on Wednesday, at the church.
Scott Dean Hurd was born November 5, 1965 in Tyler, Minnesota to Gary and Terri (Jaques) Hurd. He was baptized and confirmed at Wesley United Methodist Church. Scott graduated from Marshall High School in 1984 and went on to Albert Lea Vo-Tech where he graduated in 1988 and then Jackson Area Vo-Tech where he graduated in 1994. He was currently employed at Shakopee Public Utilities Commission where he began his career in 1994 as apower line man. Scott was a member of the Minnesota Duck and Goose Callers Association, Ducks Unlimited, Pheasants Forever, Lake Benton Sportsman's Club, Minnesota Waterfowl Association, and a lifelong member of the North American Hunting Club. He was very passionate about his work. He loved hunting geese and pheasants, NASCAR, all animals, dog training, and getting others, especially young kids, interested in hunting. He will be dearly missed by those whose life he touched.
Scott passed away November 25, 2007. He reached the age of 42 years and 19 days.
He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer of Waverly; special friend, Cindy Rogers and daughter, Meggan of Shakopee; parents, Gary and Terri Hurd of Marshall; paternal grandmother, Verna Hurd of Marshall; brother, Lance (and Angela) Hurd of LeMars, IA; and nieces and nephews, McKensi of San Diego, CA, and Braiden and Lexi of LeMars, IA.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Chad; maternal grandparents; and paternal grandfather.
