Sharon Buchholtz, age 72, of Marshall, passed away at the Avera McKennen Hospital on Friday, May 1, 2009 after a battle with cancer. Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, May 6, 2009 at First Lutheran Church in Marshall. Burial will be in the Marshall Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Hamilton Funeral Home on Tuesday evening, May 5, from 4 to 7 P.M. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service on Wednesday, at the church. Online condolences may be submitted at www.hamiltonfh.com.
Sharon Evon Pearcy was born on October 1, 1936 in Lynd, Minnesota, to Ray L. and Rosella (Raav) Pearcy. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith. She attended school in Marshall.
On May 31, 1954, Sharon was married to Levi E. Horne. She worked as a mother and homemaker. On May 8, 1971, Sharon was united in marriage to Harvey Buchholtz at First Lutheran Church in Marshall. She was a daycare provider for many families as well as a proud member of the Lyon County Childcare Association. She retired in December of 2002, after 38 years of child care.
Known by many as “Nanny, Nanners, Mom, Marge, Mother, Mrs. B, Grunt, Nanny Rooster, and Mother Hen,” Sharon loved her family very much. She was a wonderful cook and a very caring mother and grandmother. Her enjoyments in life included having coffee with her friends, camping, traveling, toodling around in her golf cart and boat at Lake Shetek, and spending time with family and friends.
Sharon passed away on May 1, 2009 at the age of 72 years, and 7 months.
She is survived by her husband, Harvey of Marshall; three daughters, Carolyn (and Dave) Meaden of Marshall, Sherry (and Mike) Geurts of Marshall, and Keela Mercer of Marshall; nine grandchildren, John Otto, Austin DeMuth, Carlee Otto, Travis Orvis, Jesse Orvis, Brady Orvis, Danny Mercer, Amanda Horne, and Tanner Horne; 10 great-grandchildren; siblings, Jim Pearcy of Tyler, Clayton Pearcy of Marshall, Janice Steinle of Balaton, and David Pearcy of Tyler; and many other relatives and friends.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Rosella; son, Syd Horne; and brother, Loren Pearcy.
