Sonya Kay Lemcke

Sonya Lemcke, age 51, of Tracy, passed away at the Prairie Home hospice House in Marshall on Tuesday, October 21, 2008. She died peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer. Funeral Services are scheduled for 10:00 AM Friday, October 24, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Marshall. Burial will be in St. Stephen Lutheran Cemetery in Canby. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 PM with a 7:00 PM prayer service on Thursday, October 23, at Hamilton Funeral Home. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service on Friday, at Church.
Sonya Kay Anderson was born to Eugene and Clara (Wilking) Anderson on December 27th, 1956 in Marshall, Minnesota. She was baptized at First Lutheran Church in 1958 and confirmed at St. Stephen Lutheran Church in 1972. She graduated from Marshall High School.
On October 10, 1985, she was united in marriage to Curtis Lemcke in Redwood Falls. Sonya and Curt lived in Marshall, Wabasso, Seaforth, Canby, Rapid City (SD), Yankton (SD), and Tyler before settling in Tracy. She worked at REM SWS for 6 years and was the head cook at Marshall Senior Center for 5 years.
Sonya was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church at the time if her death. She enjoyed spending time with family, especially her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed the outdoors, reading, walks on the gravel road, cooking, camping, watching trains, and Christmas.
Sonya is survived by her husband, Curtis Lemcke of Tracy; five children, Justin Lemcke (and Bobbi Jo Winter-Simonsen) of Pipestone, Tori (and Anthony) Eberhard of Clarkfield, Tonia Lemcke (and Andy Carpenter) of Sioux Falls, SD, Tabitha Lemcke (and Thomas Penn) of Sioux Falls, SD, and Megan Lemcke; eight grandchildren, Dominic Lemcke, Allison Lemcke, Joshua Lemcke, Hannah Lemcke, Emma Eberhard, Sarah Eberhard, Matthew Eberhard, Hunter Penn; two step-grandchildren, Tristen and Connor Simonsen; mother, Clara Anderson of Marshall; and siblings, Marlys (and Ed) Marczak of Marshall, Shirley Kaehler of Butterfield, Cheryl (and Jim) Bernardy of Ankeny, IA, Dennis Gladis of Minneapolis, Curtis Anderson of Denver, CO and sister-in-law, Marlis Gladis, of Tracy.
She is preceded in death by her father, Eugene Anderson; brother, Jerry Gladis; brother-in-law, Sherwood Kaehler; mother-in-law, Barbara Lemcke; and her grandparents.
