Steven Rae Glaeser was born at home on April 16, 1945, in Buffalo Lake, Minnesota. He was the son of Marvin and Bernice (Michelson) Glaeser. Steve was baptized as an infant and confirmed in his youth in the Lutheran Church. He attended school in Buffalo Lake, where he was active in all major sports, lettering in each. Steven graduated from Buffalo Lake High School in 1963 and then immediately served during the Vietnam War era with the United States Navy, stationed on several submarines prior to his honorable discharge in 1967. He was then spending time in California when his mother's health declined, and he returned back to Minnesota to help care for her which led to his introduction with Ms. Barbara Seehusen in 1969.

Steve and Barb were united in marriage on June 19, 1971, at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Danube, Minnesota. The couple spent 50 years of marriage together and had three daughters. The family lived in Buffalo Lake and Benson, Minnesota, and then a final move in 1991 brought them to Marshall. Steve spent his life working in accounting namely with the Swift County Human Services Office in Benson and then Region 8 North (now Southwest Minnesota Health and Human Services) in Marshall.

Steve was an honored member of the Marshall American Legion in Marshall and the Jaycees while in Benson. He was active at First Lutheran Church where he was involved in Sunday School, the youth board, and general maintenance when a handyman was needed. He had a heart for mentoring young men and was active in the VFW and Legion baseball programs, both in coaching and manager roles. His other enjoyments in life included going for walks, golfing, fishing, playing cribbage or cards, and rooting on the Minnesota Twins. In retirement he also found pride in assisting the National Guard Family Assistance Center reintegrating veterans when they would come home from service. However, his greatest pride was simply spending time with his family and two grandsons.

Steven Glaeser died on Tuesday, May 31, 2022, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, with his family at his side. He had reached the age of 77 years, 1 month, and 15 days. Blessed be his memory.
