Violet D. Binnebose

Minneota: Violet Binnebose, age 97, of Marshall, formerly of Lynd, passed away at the Minneota Manor on Thursday, June 10, 2010. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, June 19, 2010 at Hamilton Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services. Burial will be in Lynd City Cemetery. Violet Delila the oldest of twelve children was born to Olaf and Minnie (Christensen) Swanson on November 14, 1912 near Arco in Lincoln County. At the age of 10, Violet and her family moved to Russell. She attended school at District 70 and in 1930 she graduated from Russell High School.
Violet met William “Bill” Edward Binnebose when she was 16 and a sophomore in high school. They were married on October 3, 1934 in Marshall. They’re first home was in Russell where there first daughter, Arlona was born in September of 1935. In 1937 they started farming west of Russell, and in 1939 the second daughter Deanna was born. They farmed in the Russell area until 1957 when they moved to a farm east of Marshall. They farmed there until 1970 when the farm was sold and they retired from farming. They purchased a home in Lynd where Bill worked as a custodian at the Camden State Park for 4 years. Bill served a mayor of Lynd for a number of years. Violet was an excellent seamstress and made wonderful meals. She loved having the grandchildren stay on the farm in the summer months. Bill passed away in January of 1997. Violet lived alone in Lynd until she broke her hip and she went to live at the Minneota Manor in April of 2000. Violet passed away at the Minneota Manor on Thursday, June 10, 2010. She had reached the age of 97 years 6 months and 27 days. She is survived by her two daughters, Arlona Bergman of Anoka and Deanna Rustad of Elk River; four grandchildren, Janelle, Dara. Bryan and Lynn; eight great grandchildren, Jason, Ginger, Scott, Joe, Andrea, Nicholas, Ellen and Jack; nine great great grandchildren, Ava, Evelyn, Alivia, Ethan, Austin, Lara, Julia. Alayla and Delilah; five brothers; and four sisters. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; great grandson, Taylor; grandson, Lee; a brother; and a sister.
