Marshall: Wanda J. (Turner) Thordson, age 60, of Marshall, on Sunday, June 6, 2010 at Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls . Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M. Thursday, June 10, 2010 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Burial will be in the Marshall Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. with a 7:00 P.M. prayer service at Hamilton Funeral Home. Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to the services on Thursday. Wanda Jean (Turner) Thordson was born on November 26, 1949 in Phenix City, Alabama to George and Earline (Parker) Turner. She graduated from Hinkley High School in 1968. Wanda was united in marriage to Randy Thordson on August 30, 1969 and to this union four children were born; Shannon, Jesse, Sabra and Justin. The love of Wanda’s life was her family, especially her grandchildren, her friends and her church. She loved her role as wife, mom and “Grams”. Wanda enjoyed reading, crocheting, completing the morning newspaper crossword puzzles with Randy, scrapbooking and traveling. Wanda was a strong and loving wife, mother and grandmother even though battling cancer for the past nine years. She passed away at Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls on Sunday, June 6, 2010. She had reached the age of 60 years and 5 months. She was preceded in death by her father, George and two infant children. One was a twin to Sabra and the other was born between Shannon and Jesse. Wanda is survived by her husband, Randy; four children, Shannon Schultz (Joel), Jesse Thordson (Rashell), Sabra Serreyn (Michael) and Justin Thordson (Jamie); nine grandchildren, Austin Serreyn, Emma Thordson, Adam Schultz, Charlie Serreyn, Alex Thordson, Rylee Schultz, Caden Thordson, Mickala Serreyn and Thomas Thordson; mother, Earline Higdon; sister, Diane Noacks; cousin, Niel; mother and father-in-law, brother-in-law, many nieces and nephews, other loved ones, and her church family. “We are all proud of how our wife, mother and grandmother overcame obstacles during her life and she lived it to the fullest”.
