Bernice Jane Vink was born on August 14, 1930, on the family farm near Hull, Iowa. She was the daughter of Garrett and Annie (TeBrink) Vink. Bernice was baptized as an infant at the First Reformed Church in Hull. She attended Lincoln #5 country school through the 8th grade and then helped her folks on the family farm. As the youngest of nine children, she often would help her siblings with childcare, chores, and other duties. As a teenager, Bernice worked at a local café and, also in the kitchen of Perkin's Corner truck stop, washing dishes and food prep.
Bernice met John Revuers on a blind date set up by her cousin. Bernice and John were united in marriage on February 7, 1951, at First Reformed Church in Hull. The couple made their home first on his family farm near Boyden, Iowa, and then in 1954 they moved to her family farm near Hull. Bernice was a devoted farm wife, mother, and homemaker and in 1972 the family moved to Marshall, Minnesota, where Bernice and John owned and operated the El Rancho Motel. She did a lot of cleaning and office work to support the business and then spent five years at the Haas Bakery before (somewhat) retiring in 1985. They did go back briefly to the motel a couple times as Bernice found joy in serving others all throughout her life.
Bernice was a founding leader of the 4H club in Hull and helped establish the Hull Cloverettes. She was very active in her church where she served on the ladies' aide, among other roles. Bernice was gifted with her hands as expressed in her many hobbies. Her enjoyments in life included quilting, crafting, sewing, embroidery, crocheting, gardening, canning, baking, and playing the piano. Bernice cherished time spent with her family - particularly playing games with the grandkids and bus trips with John over the years.
