Bonnie June Hill

Bonnie Hill, age 76, of Marshall, Minnesota, passed away on Sunday, May 28, 2017, at Divine Providence Health Center in Ivanhoe, Minnesota. Funeral Services are 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 2, 2017 at First Lutheran Church in Marshall. Visitation is one hour prior to the service, 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., at the church.

Bonnie June Burg was born October 11, 1940, to Gillbert and Mabel (Lynne) Burg at home in Montevideo, Minnesota. She was baptized on October 24, 1940, and confirmed on May 2, 1954, both at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Montevideo. Bonnie attended grade school in Montevideo and graduated from Montevideo High School with the class of 1958. She went on to work various jobs in the area.

Bonnie was united in marriage to Duane Hill on April 18, 1964, again at Our Savior’s Lutheran Lutheran Church. The couple then made their home in Wood Lake before moving near the University of Minnesota Campus while Duane worked on his doctorate. Bonnie continued some work there with a credit agency. The couple then moved to Cosmos, Minnesota, and in 1970, to Albany, Minnesota, to raise their 2 boys: John and James. They spent about 18 years there before moving to Marshall – their home for the past 26 years. Bonnie was a devoted housewife and mother. When she needed more assistance with her daily care, she moved to Divine Providence Health Center in Ivanhoe with Duane about 8 months ago.

Bonnie was the Superintendent of the Sunday School Program in Albany and was a faithful member of First Lutheran Church in Marshall where she was active in many activities over the years. Her other enjoyments in life included reading, watching TV, and going antiquing.

Bonnie Hill died May 28, 2017 in Ivanhoe, Minnesota, at the age of 76 years, 7 months, and 17 days. Blessed be her memory.

She is survived by her husband, Duane Hill of Marshall; sons, John Hill of Marshall, James Hill, of Marshall; four siblings, Carole Halverson of Marshall, Gale (and Gloria) Burg of Dawson, Joe (and Dorene) Burg of Lake Benton, Becky (and Daryl) Hilfers of Luverne; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Bonnie is preceded in death by her parents, Gillbert and Mabel Burg, and four siblings, Donald Burg, Eugene Burg, Mavis Schwan, and Kathleen Workman.

The family invites attendees to a reception following the service in the church basement.
