Carol Lorenz, age 70, of Marshall, Minnesota, died on Sunday, January 28, 2024, at the Prairie Home Hospice – McLaughlin House in Marshall. Memorial Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, February 2, 2024, at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Marshall, Minnesota. Interment will be in the Marshall Cemetery, followed by a reception for attendees at the AmericInn Hotel in Marshall. Visitation will be held one hour prior to her service, from Noon – 1:00 p.m., on Friday, also at the Hamilton Funeral Home. 

 

Carol Ann Paulson was born on November 11, 1953, in Worthington, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Vernon and Thelma (Jenson) Paulson. Carol was baptized in her youth and attended school in Worthington until 1968 when the family moved to Marshall, Minnesota. She graduated from high school there with the class of 1971.

 

Carol was united in marriage to Jimie Lorenz on February 27, 1971, in Marshall. The couple made their home in a variety of places in Southwest Minnesota over the next few years and Carol found work at several places as they moved around. The family settled in Marshall in 1979 and Carol soon began with the Schwan's Food Company. She first worked at Schwan's Convenience Food Plants and then moved into the corporate offices where she was a bookkeeper for many years prior to her retirement in 2009.

 

Carol's enjoyments in life included camping, baking, reading, trying her luck at the casino, and spending time with her family. She enjoyed gatherings with the "71 Club" and also spoiled her grandchildren with numerous finds from local garage sales and thrift stores.

 

Carol Ann Lorenz died peacefully on Sunday, January 28, 2024, in Marshall, Minnesota. She had reached the age of 70 years, 2 months, and 17 days. Blessed be her memory.

 

She is survived by her 3 children, Shannon (and Cory) VanDeVere of Balaton, Tony Lorenz of Marshall, Chad Lorenz (and Nicole Covrig) of Brookings, SD; 9 grandchildren, Megan (and Brandon) Zachman, Haley Lorenz, Chase (and Kelsea) VanDeVere, Tristan VanDeVere, Mikayla Lorenz, Ryder Lorenz, Ethan Covrig, Carrigan Covrig, Alexis Lorenz; 4 great-grandchildren, Cora Zachman, Lincoln Zachman, Griffin Zachman, Witten VanDeVere; 3 sisters, Deb (and Bob) Walstead of Arizona, Ruth (and Don) Callahan of Cannon Falls, Linda (and Tim) Greiner of Owatonna; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

 

Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Vernon and Thelma Paulson; and her husband, Jimie Lorenz.
