David Lewis Scott

October 12, 1948 — March 25, 2015

David Lewis Scott, age 66, of St. Cloud and formerly of Waseca, Minnesota, passed away Wednesday, March 25, 2015, at the VA Medical Center in St. Cloud, Marshall. Funeral services are Saturday, March 28, 2015, 4:00 PM at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Marshall. Interment will be 1:00 PM Sunday, March 29, 2015 in the Lynd City Cemetery. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service, from 2:00 – 4:00 PM, on Saturday at the Hamilton Funeral Home.

David Lewis Scott was born on October 12, 1948, in Marshall, Minnesota. He was the son of Clarence and Laura (Phillippe) Scott. David grew up in Lynd and attended school there. He was part of a large family; 5 girls and 4 boys made for a busy household. At the age of 17, David enlisting in the United States Navy and served his county overseas during Vietnam. He was honorably discharged in September of 1968 and returned to Minnesota.

On June 29, 1974, David was married to Judy Bergerson. They raised her son, Gary, and had two more children of their own: Teri and Jerry. David worked in construction and then continued his education at the Vo Tech School in Granite Falls. After graduation, he moved to Waseca where he worked as a machinist at O.T.C. in Owatonna for many years. David retired early due to a back injury.

David enjoyments included the outdoors – he loved to go fishing, hunting, tent camping by Smith Lake in Alexandria, boating, and watch campfires. He loved his family and enjoyed family get-togethers. There were many family trips to cabins to take advantage of the good fishing and quality family time. He was also a big fan of all kinds of music, playing cards, cooking and eating food, and the Minnesota Vikings, win or lose.

When David needed more assistance with his care, he entered the VA nursing home and hospital in St. Cloud a few years ago. He passed away there at the age of 66 years, 5 months and 13 days. Blessed be his memory.

David is survived by his children, Teri Hanks of Mankato, MN, Jerry Scott of Craig, CO;
4 grandchildren, Shane, Austin, Damian, Shylah; sister, Judy (and Gary) Johnson of Heron Lake, MN; brother, Roger (and Cheryl) Scott of Alexandria, MN; sister-in-law, Diane Scott of Marshall, MN; nephews, nieces, other relatives and many friends.

David is preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Laura Scott; 6 siblings, Kenneth Scott, Irene (Henry) Housman, Eddie Scott, Vonnie (Clarence) Boogaard, Velma (Gene) Lien, Patricia (Mort) Mikkelson.
