Florence Moat, age 84, of Marshall, Minnesota, died on Tuesday, August 15, 2023, at the Avera Morningside Heights Care Center in Marshall, Minnesota. Memorial Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 21, 2023, at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Marshall, Minnesota. Following a reception for attendees, interment will be at the St. Eloi Catholic Cemetery in Ghent, Minnesota. Visitation will be held from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. Sunday, August 20, 2023, at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Marshall. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of her celebration at 11:00 a.m., on Monday at the funeral home.
Florence Catherine Dirckx was born on April 30, 1939, in Ghent, Minnesota, to parents Michael and Mary (Matthys) Dirckx. She grew up in Russell and then Marshall and attended Central Catholic High School in Marshall. She spent many years as a loving homemaker and mother, raising her five children: Theresa, Darrell, Brenda, Eugene, and Jean.
Flo called Marshall her home nearly her entire life and beginning in 1986 she went to work for the Schott Corporation where she assembled electronic components before her retirement in 1996.
Her enjoyments in life included playing bingo, fishing, gardening, baking, sewing, coloring, various arts & crafts, and completing word searches or puzzles. She was a true animal lover and was always drawn to cats and dogs. Florence was also quick to appreciate a passing cardinal. Her true passion however was spending time with her grandchildren and pouring into their lives whenever she had the chance.
Florence Moat died peacefully on Tuesday, August 15, 2023, In Marshall, Minnesota. She had reached the age of 84 years, 3 months, and 16 days. Blessed be her memory.
She is survived by her four children, Theresa (and Greg) Aufenthie of Mandan, ND, Darrell (and Ruth) Dirckx of Cottonwood, Brenda Moat of Marshall, Eugene Moat of Marshall; 3 grandchildren, Justin Moat, Rachel Moat, Christopher (and Casie) Aufenthie; 5 great-grandchildren, Piper Aufenthie, Jada Jones, Willow Aufenthie, Micah Bretz, Jaxson Moat; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.
Florence was preceded in death by her parents, Michael and Mary Dirckx; grandparents, Edmund & Ramona Matthys, Constant & Catherine Dirckx; daughter, Jean Moat; grandchild, baby Marshall Moat; brothers, Theodore and Lawrence Dirckx; and a sister, Margaret Osborne.
