Greg Orvil Frederickson

Greg Frederickson, age 68, of Tracy, Minnesota, died unexpectedly on Monday, September 7, 2026, at his home. Memorial Services are 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Marshall, Minnesota. A reception for attendees will follow at the funeral home. Visitation will be held one hour prior to his celebration, from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, also at the Hamilton Funeral Home.

Gregory Orvil Frederickson was born on October 25, 1957, in Windom, Minnesota. He was the son of Orvil and Gloria (Ulshafer) Frederickson. Greg grew up in Windom where he was baptized as an infant and confirmed in his youth at the American Lutheran Church. Greg attended school in Windom and graduated with the high school class of 1976 before attending Mankato State University for political science. Soon thereafter, he hopped on a boxcar train out to Wyoming where he worked on a cattle ranch and then enjoyed several years of traveling abroad before settling back home.

Greg was first married to Rona in 1990, and the couple made their home on his farm outside Walnut Grove. He began the Pizza Barn in the mid-1990s. After a divorce he was again married to Marilyn. That relationship also ended and he then met Kelly Snelling and the two had a son, Mace, in 2002. By this time Greg has started Mace's restaurant, proudly names after his son, which served Tracy until 2008. Greg enjoyed his time spent on both the farm near Walnut Grove and again on their place near Amiret before moving into Tracy in 2007. He then began working for Minn-Kota construction in 2008 and stayed there until his retirement in 2020.

Greg was active in local theater productions and showed off his amazing voice as he took the lead in several musicals. He enjoyed watching the Minnesota Twins, taking a drive in a Firebird convertible, sipping on a cocktail, or tending to his garden where he specialized in tomatoes that ended up in many Bloody Marys or pizza sauce recipes.

Greg Frederickson died at his home on September 7, 2026. He reached the age of 68 years, 10 months, and 13 days. Blessed be his memory.

He is survived by his son, Mace Frederickson (and Macey Lanners) of Tracy; granddaughter, London (with another grandson on the way); mother to Mace, Kelly (and Corey) Vickerman of Tracy; 5 siblings, Tim (and Mary) Frederickson of Goshen, IN, Linda Frederickson of Apache Junction, AZ, Mike (and Kathy) Frederickson of Brooklyn Park, Julie (and Hans) Schreifels of Welch, Joel (and Linda) Frederickson of Minneapolis; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

Greg was preceded in death by his parents, Orvil & Gloria Frederickson; grandson, Kaiser Frederickson; and an infant sister, Alice Sue Frederickson.
