Kathy Ann Knieff

Kathy Knieff, age 76, of Marshall, Minnesota, died peacefully and under the care of hospice on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at her home. Memorial Services are 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 29, 2026, at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Marshall, Minnesota. Following a light luncheon at the Funeral Home, interment will be in the Marshall Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to her celebration, from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, also at Hamilton Funeral Home.

Kathleen Ann Mercie was born in Marshall, Minnesota, on March 21,1950. She was the daughter of Gerard and Charlotte (Richter) Mercie. Kathy graduated from Marshall High School in 1968 and went on to work at BH electronics for 10 years as a lead supervisor. She also worked at The Corner Bar where she met her future husband, Mr. Bruce Knieff.

Bruce and Kathy were married on January 18, 1980, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The couple made their home in Marshall and raised 2 daughters. Their oldest, Angelia, was born on April 23, 1981, and their youngest, Dawn, was born on March 23, 1983.

Kathy ran an in-home daycare for many years before retiring. She had the pleasure of helping numerous families with their daycare needs and truly enjoyed the children she was able to care for each day.

Kathy's greatest pleasure was spending time with family and friends. Her grandson, Chance, was her pride and joy who lovingly called her "Grams". Her other enjoyments included time spent at the camper at Stony Point, crocheting, collecting Precious Memories, and an ice cream run to Dairy Queen.

Kathy Knieff died peacefully at her home on September 19, 2026. She reached the age of 76 years, 5 months, and 29 days. Blessed be her memory.

She is survived by her daughters, Angelia (and James) Andrews of Marshall, Dawn Knieff of Marshall; grandson, Chance Andrews of Marshall; brother, Curt Mercie of Marshall; sisters-in-law, Carol Serreyn of Marshall, Janice Knieff (and Cathy Hare) of Edina, Shelly Mercie of Delmar, DE, Tammy Mercie of Tracy; many nieces, nephews, and friends who were honored to have her in their lives.

Kathy's husband, Bruce Knieff, passed away on May 25, 2024, after spending 43 years together. She was also preceded in death by her father, Gerard Mercie; mother, Charlotte Mercie; sister, Janice Babcock; brothers, Ronald Mercie, Jeffery Mercie; brother-in-law, Bob Serreyn; nieces, Melissa Babcock, Jennifer Serreyn; nephews, Chad Babcock and Mark Babcock.
