Kenneth Darrell Allen

Kenneth Allen, age 70, of Marshall, Minnesota, died on Monday, September 11, 2023, at his home. Funeral Services are 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 15, 2023, at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Marshall. Interment will follow in the Marshall Cemetery. Visitation will be held just prior to his celebration, beginning at 1:00 p.m., also at the Hamilton Funeral Home.

Kenneth Darrell Allen was born on July 5, 1953, in Trenton, Michigan. He was the son of Andrew and Betty (Wills) Allen. As a young boy, Ken moved around with his family and he was baptized in the Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Mount Vernon, Ohio. He later attended school in Tennessee before finding work at the Mine and Mill Company in Florida. 

On March 23, 1979, Ken was united in marriage to Robin Lafreniere in Lakeland, Florida. The couple made their home in Ohio for a few years before moving to Massachusetts. In 1988 the family moved again to Tennessee. The couple had seven children and moved to Florida where he spent the next decade with his family.
 
Ken worked various janitorial jobs before starting his career as a security guard. He served at Wells Fargo Bank and Mine and Mill Company.  Ken's enjoyments in life included watching old television shows, particularly westerns and the Andy Griffith show, and listening to old time music. He was a faithful former member of the Lakeland Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Florida. Ken moved with his son to Marshall, Minnesota, in 2003 to be near his brother.
 
Ken died on Monday, September 11, 2023, in Marshall, Minnesota. He had reached the age of 70 years, 2 months, and 6 days. Blessed be his memory.
 
He is survived by his seven children, Ken Allen of Lakeland, FL, Darrell (and Ashley) Allen of Marshall, Amanda Allen (and Timothy Coleman) of Lakeland, FL, Jennifer Allen (and Ronald Dunn) of Lakeland, FL, Creed  Allen (and Celandine) of Winter Haven, FL, Joshua Allen of Minneapolis, Brittany Allen of Bartow  FL; 7 grandchildren, Kaitlyn Allen, Kinsley Allen, Elija Allen, Anthony Allen, Tallan Coleman, Taliyah Coleman, Raiden Dunn; 5 siblings, Michael Allen, Karen James, Jack Allen, Sandra Platz, Donna Bougher; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
 
Ken was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Betty Allen; sister, Susie Allen; special aunt, Marjorie Ann Allen; and niece, Michelle "Angel" Stacey.
