Lois Ann McDowell was born December 17, 1940, in Hendricks, Minnesota, to Leland and Clarice (Hemple) McDowell. She graduated from Hendricks High School in 1958 and went on to attend Stewart's Beauty College in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Lois worked at Harold’s Salon in Marshall for three years before devoting herself to being a loving wife and mother.

In June 1962, Lois married the love of her life, Alvin Evers, in Hendricks, Minnesota. Together, they made their home in Worthington, Fulda, Marshall, Stillwater, and eventually returned to Marshall in 1981. Lois and Alvin lived in the same home for more than 40 years, creating a lifetime of cherished memories there.

Lois was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She is survived by her two daughters, Roxanne (Kevin) Shoeberg of Stillwater and Heather (Douglas) Yost of Shoreview; six grandchildren, Alexander (Samantha) Shoeberg, Jacqueline Shoeberg, Gavin Yost, Gabrielle Yost, and Genevieve Yost; and two great-granddaughters, Sydney and Brooklyn Shoeberg.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Alvin; her parents, Leland and Clarice McDowell; her brothers, Norman, Carroll, and Dale McDowell; and her special friend, Lucy Stucke.

Lois enjoyed crocheting, playing solitaire on her iPad, and, most of all, spending time with family and friends. She was an active and devoted member of First Lutheran Church for more than 40 years.

Lois touched the lives of many people throughout her years, and her kindness, love, and gentle spirit will be deeply missed. Her memory and legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of all who knew and loved her.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at St. John’s Hospital in Maplewood, MN for the wonderful care they provided Lois during her final weeks. Their compassion and kindness were truly a blessing, and the family is deeply grateful for all they did for Lois and her loved ones.
